78 Miles, 6,200'
Headed West today, starting with a few miles on the coast before heading inland for some nice climbing into the hills. Clear skies and cool, and no wind - at least initially. After the hills, it was rollers for the rest of the ride, as the wind picked up. The nasty winds the last few days were out of the South; today (of course) they switched to NW, so we had bad headwinds for the last 30 miles. Ugh.
Longest ride of the year for me. We've certainly seen more than enough olive trees! Matala has some interesting history: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matala,_Crete. Strava: http://app.strava.com/activities/47989941.
A field of daisies, with snow-covered mountains behind:
Stopped for a quick bite, along with some Raki (Greek grappa; energy drink!):
Cool sign for the trip, climbing into the hills:
Finally a shot of Matala, with the Roman caves:
