Left the hotel straight up a 15% grade - on cobblestones - nice warm up! A perfect day on the road. Countryside changed often as we went up and down on our way towards the alps. Quiet country roads, covered bridges, dense forests, farmland, nice climbs and nicer decents.
After riding through Interlaken, we decided to add a side trip up the Lauterbrunnen valley, which was stunning, like a mini-Yosemite, but with glaciers, trams, gondolas, hang gliders, etc. It was an up and back ride, then we turned up to Grindelwald, which was equally perfect, with the Eiger and Wetterhorn looming across the valley.
My Garmin was freaking out in the Lauterbrunnen valley; losing the satellites, giving me a max speed of 97.3 (http://app.strava.com/rides/17471267), and likely the ride was under 80 miles. Doesnt matter; it was all outstanding!
