We climbed us some Alps today; three up and three down (http://app.strava.com/activities/17852079). Awesome, awesomer, and awesomest, though not necessarily in that order. We started out the hotel door climbing the Grosse Scheidegg along the base of the Wetterhorn, climbing almost 3,000' in a little over 5 miles, 10-12% the whole way. Tiny little road:
Which was great except when a bus would come by and we would have to stop and move over. Very little traffic otherwise. The descent was crazy; small road again, buses and increasing traffic around blind turns, long, fast, went on forever. Whew.
Next up was the Grimselpass, 5,000' up. Beautiful the whole way, but lots of traffic. Cars, buses, and bunches of motorcycles hauling up the road. There were a lot of cyclists out all day also. It is Saturday, with perfect weather, so everyone was out. At the top, we got a peak over the side, down and back up the last pass, the Furkapass. Incredible view:
