Day 5

Rest Day!

A much needed rest day in Bagneres de Luchon (also called the Queen of the Pyrenees), a great mountain town that lives and breathes bicycles. This year was the 100th anniversary of the tour coming through; here’s city hall:

Also seemed like all the stores had bicycle stuff painted on the windows, or this case, a track bike in a wine and food store:

At breakfast we watched a bike race go by that started in town with a few hundred cyclists. Next up was a massage that will hopefully help tomorrow when we start riding again. After lunch, we went to the vaporarium, underground caves that were a natural sauna, with a large thermal pool next to it. Next stop was the Telecabine, small gondolas that went to the top of a ski area, where mountain bikers fly down the hill, and hang gliders take off:

It was hot today, and will likely be hot on the bike the next few days as we he head up the next mountains tomorrow.
