Sort to Gosol
Last big-climbing day of the trip today. Last evening thunderstorms came in and dumped. Roads still wet this morning, but by the time we pushed off they were dry. From the front door of the hotel we started up a cat 1 climb (Coll de Canto, often a Vuelta hill), 3,500’ of non-stop climbing, though only a few short steep sections. A long, rolling descent, the up another 2,800’ to the Coll de la Trava. More rolling drops to the final climb to the Coll de Josa, followed by a very short drop to the hotel. We had a net elevation gain of over 2,000’, which will be nice to redeem tomorrow.
Weather was mixed all day, some hot sunny sections, lots of wind, most (but certainly not all) was favorable. Occasional dark clouds blowing through, but no r**n until an hour after we arrived.
Another great day in the mountains. After a while the hills and valleys start looking the same to the camera’s eye, but it was beautiful while riding. Here are today’s photos:
