Side note: The internet has been quite flakey the last few days. I hope to eventually load some photos for the last few days.
This country changes seasons daily it seems. From the near 80 temps in Christchuch, to the snow/rain yesterday, then today when we started it was 37 degrees for the first hour or two. Brrr! very gradually warmed up to mid-60s mid-afternoon. Still no rain - I'm amazed, though Paul has guaranteed no rain for the trip.
Today we went from Reefton to Punakaiki, starting cold through a lot of fog in farm country. Eventually the sun started peaking through a bit as we went through river canyons covered in green. Some areas looked like Tahiti, with the steep, vegetation-covered hillsides. It did not match the air temperature!
We eventually arrived on the West coast, and stopped near a small cove for lunch. So, we've now gone coast-to-coast. After lunch we started down the coast for the last 20 miles, something we will be doing for the next few days.
After cleaning up and doing laundry, we headed out to the local sensation, the pancake rocks. A couple shots below to give you an idea. Quite stunning, with an path through a rain-forest to get there.
Legs were a little heavy today, but overall doing reasonably well!
